Founder and CEO

Nancy Onyango is the visionary force behind Show Up Communications, the pan-African digital agency leading the charge in providing strategic communication solutions to elevate companies’ visibility across the African continent. After only a short stint at the helm of the company, Nancy has steered Show Up Communications towards unprecedented success, delivering impactful programs that resonate with clients and stakeholders alike.

Drawing from her diverse 15 years of experience in communications, Nancy has mastered crafting comprehensive strategies that encompass quantitative and qualitative research, program development, and marketing campaigns. Under her leadership, Show Up Communications has excelled in drafting compelling concept notes, funding proposals, and annual work plans, showcasing a knack for innovative solutions that drive results.

Nancy’s expertise doesn’t stop in the boardroom. With a sharp eye for detail and a knack for storytelling, Nancy’s written communication skills have always shown through. As a freelance writer and editor for This is Africa and AllAfrica Global Media, Nancy used her platform to amplify voices and stories across the continent. From shedding light on the impact of COVID-19 on migrant remittances to showcasing innovative solutions like Safi Organics, Nancy’s work reflects her unwavering commitment to promoting positive change and empowerment in Africa.

She has been based in South Africa for nearly a decade. With a treasure trove of experience spanning roles such as communications specialist for FAO and editor-in-chief for RNW Media, Nancy brings a unique blend of strategic vision and operational expertise to SHOW UP Communications. Whether coordinating virtual summits or developing communication strategies for international organisations, Nancy’s dedication to excellence and impact-driven approach has set her apart as a true luminary in the field of communications in Africa. Arther Chatora

Communication Associate

Arther Chatora is a journalist, communications specialist and editor passionate about the media, speaking truth to power, and sharing the stories of marginalised people and communities.

He has worked in This Is Africa since 2015 in various roles. Chatora has worked as a journalist, editor, and digital media researcher, amongst others and has had a longstanding desire to explore media democracy and freedom of expression, civil society and the public sphere related to digital and social media. He has worked for media and research organisations including the Institute for Security Studies (ISS), The Daily News, Forbes Africa magazine and the Centre for Economics Journalism in Africa (Ceja). He has also done communications and advocacy consultancy work for media rights organisations in Zimbabwe.

Chatora holds a Bachelor of Journalism and New Media degree and a Master of Arts in Journalism and Media Studies both received from Rhodes University, in South Africa.

Thomas Bwire

Communications Associate

Thomas  Bwire is an experienced content specialist and award-winning Kenyan journalist based in the Hague, with a key focus on child-focused stories.  His work has been recognised through various media honors awarded by the Children Legal Action Network and Internews, among others.

Maxime Koami Domegni

French Editor

Koami Domegni, better known under the pen name of Maxime Domegni, is a
prize-winning investigative journalist. He is the French Editor for Show Up Comms. He is also the Head of French-speaking Africa for the Global Investigative Journalism
Network-GIJN.

He has previously worked for BBC as a planning producer, he has also worked as a West Africa correspondent for www.justiceinfo.net and media project coordinator for This Is Africa
(francophone). Maxime is passionate about journalism and new technologies. He often reports on mineral resources, public governance, illicit financial flows, corruption, etc. In 2016, he won the African Award for Excellence in Journalism (Ziméo) in the natural resources category.

Kevin Onyando

Multimedia Associate

Kevin is a versatile and creative force in the world of media, design, and digital marketing. With an extensive background in photography, videography, and graphic design, he brings a unique blend of artistic flair and technical expertise to every project.

With extensive experience in heading media production, he ensures that every frame tells a compelling story. He has led the creative charge, driving technical event production and multimedia communication, consistently exceeding client expectations.

 

Sophia Wambaire

Project Assistant

Sophia Rukwaro is a journalist and multimedia specialist. Before joining SUC, she worked at the African Institite for Child Studies and African Unsencored.  She is a skilled social media manager, script writer and video manager.

Tabby Muchemi

Finance Associate

Tabitha Muchemi is an experienced finance and administrative professional with over 15 years in finance, operations, grant management, working with donors, stakeholder relations, and human resource management. She has demonstrated a track record of effectively collaborating with the private and non-profit sectors to develop and implement programmes and strategy, train and mentor talents.

Tabitha possesses a passion for innovative social enterprises that create social impact. She has previously worked at Sarakasi Trust as an accountant and at Africa Yoga Project as a finance and operations manager and the general manager.

Tabitha holds a Bachelor of Science in International Business Administration and a Masters of Science in Organizational Development both received from United States International of Africa, Nairobi and is a Certified Public Accountant in Kenya.

Nganga Wanjiru

Project Assistant

Ng’ang’a Wanjiru is a versatile multimedia specialist deeply committed to storytelling and digital media innovation in Africa. With a background in Animation and Graphic design, he has gained invaluable experience in content creation and branding. Steve’s passion for social change led him to collaborate with non-profits such as Slum TV and the African Grassroots Media Alliance- AGMA, where he utilized his branding, video editing, and animation skills to amplify marginalized voices. Proficient in Animation, Adobe Suite, and video editing, Steve combines creativity with technical prowess to craft compelling narratives and engage diverse audiences across digital platforms. A graduate of Africa’s digital media institute, he remains dedicated to pushing the boundaries of multimedia storytelling and driving positive change across the continent.

John Njoroge

Assistant Project Manager

Meet John Njoroge, an integral part of our dynamic team at Show Up Communications. John currently serves as an Assistant Project Manager, bringing a wealth of expertise in communications strategy, project management, and digital marketing to the table.

Prior to joining Show Up Communications, John spent two years as a freelance writer, honing their craft and developing a keen eye for storytelling and content creation.

As a Social Media Manager at Show Up Communications, John demonstrated a knack for driving engagement and enhancing brand visibility through strategic content creation and community management.

With a passion for crafting impactful communication strategies and a dedication to continuous growth, John is an invaluable asset to the Show Up Communications family

Project Associate

Joshua Were is a skilled Communications and Content Strategist with a strong background in SEO Copywriting, Media Monitoring, and Social Media Analysis. He has a proven track record overseeing comprehensive written content for diverse clients and crafting content strategies aligned with SEO best practices.

Joshua Were possesses a diverse skill set in communication and content strategy. His expertise includes copy editing, media monitoring, press analyses, and social media analysis. Joshua is adept at relationship management, customer relations, and data analysis. With strong communication and interpersonal skills, he effectively conveys information verbally and in writing, providing prompt feedback and building lasting relationships. Joshua’s skills in SEO copywriting, production and repurposing of publications, and events management make him a valuable asset in enhancing digital presence and brand visibility.
